Joint Research Center for Zhangjiajie Geomorphology

The Joint Research Center for Zhangjiajie Geomorphology was established by the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Government of Wulingyuan District of Zhangjiajie City in September, 2011. The main purpose of the center is to gain a deeper understanding of Zhangjiajie Geomorphology, the morphological structure, evolution mechanism and process underlying the distinguished landscape exhibited in Zhangjiajie Global Geopark. Consequently, it will provide scientific guidance and technological support for effectively conserving the geoheritage, promoting regional sustainable tourism, and applying geomorphic knowledge to the planning, development and management of global and national geoparks.
